Learning to Trust...

I teach about transformation. A key step in transformation is trust. A small word. A huge and often frightening concept. A concept that requires we let go of our need to control and micro-manage. Let go of our illusion that we know for sure what is around the corner, or that we can manipulate the future to turn out just how we want it. How to get there? How to trust?

On Monday I shared the story of my meeting with the Dalai Lama. A very simple tale of a deep wish that I had held in my heart for many, many years. One that I held sincerely, but gently, without forcing, without engineering anything. I simply held the wish with trust that it would be fulfilled. And, on Monday I had the honour of meeting His Holiness. The blessing fell into my lap.

My gong is a similar story, and one of many that I can tell that demonstrates the power and value of trust. It has been a long-time wish of mine to invest in a gong to share the absolute bliss and trippiness of these deep and powerful meditations, but due to the logistics of travel and delivery, I hadn't seriously investigated it. Two years ago I set an intention of investing in a gong and made contact with a guy called Alix in Germany who makes them. We discussed various options but I couldn't afford one that I felt would do justice to the sacredness of my yoga room at Coral Coast, nor the powerful energy of Sinai. I chose to wait, with the promise that when my finances allowed me the grace of this investment, that I would make it.

Following the release of my new Yoga for Freediving videos, I am fortunate to enjoy a little more abundance,  but had put the intention of the gong so far out of my mind, that I had forgotten it. Two weeks ago, an email popped in to my inbox from Alix, completely out of the blue, saying that he'd been playing a new gong, and while playing, had had a vision of me, and a remembrance of our email conversation over two years earlier. It was that simple. I knew that by trusting and letting go, my gong finally had found me.

Of course meeting the Dalai Lama and finding my gong are fairly easy intentions to set and then go of again. Easier than wanting to find a fulfilling and uplifting relationship, a new job or make a career change, wanting a child, or other significant life events. But the Law of Abundance works just the same, and we can trust in it.

So, if you're curious and want to test it out for yourself, set an intention, make a wish - a sincere wish from your heart which is uplifting rather than grasping - and then set it aside. Trust deep down that it will be manifested in the best possible way, at the best possible time, without getting specific. Completely let go of it. Forget it.  Start small and each time your intention or wish is fulfilled, your ability to trust will expand. And you can take greater leaps of faith, take bolder steps into the unknown, dare to dream bigger, greater, more courageously.
