The big freediving media buzz this year (other than the launch of the Dive-Eye) has been the release of the Dolphin Man movie, focusing on the life of the man who is grandfather to us all, Jacques Mayol.
He was more than an incredible pioneer for our sport, he had a vision: 'Conservation only works if you fall in love with the sea'. With this in mind, the movie project goes beyond the screen, aiming to engage the wider population in awareness and proactive protection through inspiring and directing their passion for our oceans; three incredibly beautiful and powerful 360 degree Virtual Reality movies; and the #MyBlue photo competition.
I am super-blessed to be involved in both!
#MyBlue is a photo competition that aims to raise awareness about our connection to the ocean and the need to protect it. The campaign is based on our personal, lifelong relationship with the sea, the emotions it brings to us, the beauty of the underwater world and the effects of water on our body and soul.
If you're a passionate underwater photographer (professional, or just setting out) check out how to enter the competition here. You have until December 31. I'm on the judge panel and you can win some amazing prizes including my Yoga for Freediving course Deep Relaxation, a unique diving experience in Greece with the Grand Resort Lagonissi and Athens Divers Club*, and Dolphin Man cinema tickets across the world. I can't wait to see all of the beautiful photos of everyone connecting with one of my greatest loves, the ocean!
If you're curious to see the incredible Dolphin Man 360 movies, BREATHE, DIVE and SEARCH, starring myself, Will Trubridge and Fabrice Schnoller, download the ARTE app for IOS or Android from ARTE360 VR, make some popcorn, and then open the Dolphin Man movies! Enjoy!
And apologies to Alessia Zecchini - my movie, BREATHE, was recorded in February this year, before her amazing new WR dive to 104m, so I eat humble pie - she is now OFFICIALLY the deepest woman in the world!
Wishing you all fun and frolics beneath the waves.
With deep love and hugs,
