Often the difference between meditation, medication and mediation is simply a slip of a finger on the keyboard. But, hang on - could there be something more Freudian going on here than the brain moving faster than the digits?
Meditation: to focus one's mind for a period of time, in silence or with the aid of chanting, for religious or spiritual purposes, or as a method of relaxation
Medication: to treat a physical condition through administering drugs
Mediation: to invervene in order to resolve a conflict
Meditation is both medication and mediation which we administer by ourselves, to ourselves, for ourselves. We treat physical conditions (stress and stress-related conditions) through stilling and directing our mind. We resolve the inner conflicts and constant negative chatter in order to obtain peace and stillness within. Stress (physical tension) and fear (negative thoughts) are the two greatest killers of the great freedive. Meditation is the answer.
Meditation doesn't mess with the chemical balance in our bodies by introducing drugs. It doesn't require third parties to get involved, often for a high fee. Meditation is the simple, easy practice of sitting and learning how to begin to master our own mind, for our own benefit. That's it.
This short video tells you a bit more about this incredibly powerful yet easy practice. The biggest challenge is to simply bring yourself to your mat each day. Once you're sitting, the rest is easy - and gets easier day by day, the more you practice. Sat nam <3
